Work With Me

Hello! I’m Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Moore with 15 years of experience in the media industry as a television producer – working in 7 newsrooms including CNN, and as a Supervising Producer at HSN crafting the best presentation of products for TV.

UPDATED POLICY – SEPTEMBER 2018:

Sewing Report’s mission and goal is to help others discover a love for sewing, crafts, and DIY projects. I enjoy and take pride in finding and sharing what I feel are the best resources and products in the making space. Transparency and authenticity are my highest priorities when presenting information.

In the past I have worked with small businesses and larger companies in collaborations. While many of those experiences were positive and I felt the content coming out of these partnerships was high quality, I have decided to take steps in order to stay accountable and honest to you – the audience.

Moving forward, brands/companies/people who send me items to review will NOT be guaranteed coverage by the Sewing Report, nor will they have any editorial control over any content I do produce. If I love it and there is value for you to know about it, I’ll talk about it here and on my YouTube channel.

Free products in exchange for a video/social media post – this is very common in the blogging/vlogging world. What’s also pretty standard is to dictate or request HOW content is presented, sometimes even in videos or blog posts that aren’t sponsored. Having full creative license is something I will not relinquish.

Coming from a journalism background, that is not a generally accepted practice and I aim to make that an ethical standard here at the Sewing Report. Yes, sometimes I am sent free stuff as a blogger/vlogger. But I do not want the fact that it was given to me influence the way I treat coverage. I will always disclose whether or not I paid for an item, but will be declining freebies if the provider is unwilling to follow these guidelines.

There is a fine line between a blog post / video and a commercial, and it has become quite a muddy one at that. Everyone wins when a creator shares information in their own unique way, and I truly believe the result is much better than the “too many cooks in the kitchen” approach. After all, isn’t that the reason companies want to work with them to begin with?

Any potential sponsors/partners will only be considered if I feel they are 1) a great fit for the Sewing Report audience and 2) are willing to grant me creative license to make the best content possible
