After being a longtime Craftsy / Bluprint customer for over 5 years, plus an affiliate promoting the online learning platform here at the Sewing Report – I have made the decision to cancel my membership subscription when it runs out in March 2021.
I am not encouraging you to cancel your Craftsy membership, but did want to share my own experience with the company and explain my reasons for this choice. It pretty much boils down to the price of $79.99 / year, lack of usage, and current Craftsy business practices.
When I called Craftsy to request that my account NOT be auto-renewed, I was told they did have a lower tier for $29.99 (not sure what that includes), and that even without paying – I should be able to access the 60+ classes in my account library. Of course, I will be back with an update on the process…

I was thinking the same thing. I did not realize my membership was about to expire and they charged me $79.99. And exactly as you described there is no way to cancel online. and I am unable to delete my credit card. I am also disappointed that there has been no new classes. I have all my current classes downloaded, so I am interested in new content. Thank you for your video.
Karen says
Eileen, how did you download your classes??
Joan says
Karen, If you find out how to download the classes..please let me know..
Thank you

I’m having the same problem as you. I was renewed in the middle of the night last night for a year’s membership at the original price, and I tried to get a refund today but Craftsy’s phone was not answered. Did you contact Craftsy and did they give you a refund for the membership fee?
Joan Harrison says
I had a problem with Craftsy mebership payment online so I found their phone number and called..They were very nice and helpful..
Joan says
Can you please explain how to download the classes..I am older, a lot!! and not good with all the computer stuff..

Hi Jen,
I just want to thank you for making this video. I just happened to see it yesterday. I was an original Craftsy subscriber and loved the original platform. Recently, I tried NQC and have not been able to get unsubscribed to the proliferation of emails they send. **IMAGINE my surprise this morning when an unrecognized charge to my account was traced back to them. Thank you again; your message was right on time for me and very well done.
I’m Grateful.
Sheri says
Thank you Jen! I was about to sign up for the $3 special, but I’m not going to now. If cancellation is not easily done through the account section of a member’s profile of ANY membership, then it’s not worth the hassle. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Same here!

When Blueprint became Crafsty I lost all my credits because I did not do it by a certain date last year.
Too many distractions including COVID. When I contacted them about giving me the credits back they totally ignored me and said that it was not possible. Very disappointing also the policy of not letting you cancel is ridiculous.

How to cancel my membership on craftsy
Elizabeth Ferraro says
Apparently have many bad policies. Now have special where you can get a premium membership for just 3 dollars. The same membership I just auto renewed for 85.oo (with tax). I will not auto renew for next year for sure.
Jane says
Sent an email to Craftsy a week ago to cancel my subscription. Absolutely no response from them.
Joan says
If you call their customer service number they are more than willing to help..

I subscribed for their GOLD membership last month (something like $13/year).
On the same day I emailed them requesting the membership not to be automatically renewed, I already had bad experiences with things getting renewed at exorbitant prices.
They did not replied my email, I sent them another email requesting my membership not to be automatically renewed.
Since I’m based in Australia, I really don’t want to pay international call fees.
Cushla says
Hi, I’m from New Zealand – how did it go trying to cancel the membership with craftsy.
Was emailing them enough or did it require a phone call in the end?
Heidi says
I was sent an email telling me i was about to automatically be renewed, i was
able to reply to this email with my Craftsy account number and got a reply very quickly. They have taken me off auto renew and offered it at the reduced cost of £29.99.
My concern is, can i still access my account and watch the videos i have paid for when it was crafsty years ago before bluprint. I cant find any clear answers
MC says
Hello Heidi. My membership is about to expire and not planning to renew but I was wondering if I will be able to watch the classes as well. Are you able to? I wrote to them but no response. Thank you.

Thanks for the review. I just clicked on a facebook ad for Crafty as they have a deal right now for $2.50, but it dropped to $1.25 when I wanted to leave the link. Kind of thought it was too good to be true and I decided to check out reviews and saw your review. Not being able to cancel my subscription automatically is a huge turn off and red flag for me. So I will not be trying out their service.

I subscribed for some cheap price for the Premium membership on November 18 last year. Today is the 15th of November 2021. I had set myself a reminder all the way a year ago when I subscribed to be sure to cancel before being automatically renewed on the 19th of November 2021.
So I went to my account to check how to unsubscribe, as I haven’t had any email from them letting me know that soon I would be re=subscribed and be billed again. I figured I was going to cancel before they even sent me the email to tell me that I would soon be resubscribed.
When I went to my account, incredibly, it said I had been a member for three days and my membership ends November 18, 2022. Wait – my one-year subscription is not supposed to end until November 18, 2021 – three days from now. It means that they renewed my membership three days ago – with no prior notice or option to cancel sent to me by email.
As you say here, absurdly, the only way to cancel is to make a toll-free phone call to the United States. I live in Poland. I can’t afford that phone call. I don’t even know if I can call a toll-free 800 number from overseas. I’ve written an email, but now I’m really dismayed to read so many people writing that when they emailed, they got no reply at all.
Wow. How do I contact the Better Business Bureau about this? I am beyond shocked at what a fly-by-night, underhanded and dishonest company Craftsy has turned out to be!
Lois R says
I just received an email from Craftsy that my membership would expire on 12/10/21 and would automatically renew for $149 and I would receive the following:
Upon renewal, you’ll have the opportunity to choose and add 8 classes and 10 patterns or guides to your account. You also get 20% off classes in the Craftsy Shop, just for being a GOLD member! Additionally, you’ll continue to have access to our Ask an Expert program, live streaming events, and our ever-evolving premium video library.
I was also given a toll free number to call to stop the auto renew. I became a GOLD member because they had an very low price offer a year ago.
I immediately called the number and reached a representative who was very helpful and cancelled my membership renewal. She did offer a lower price of 79.00 but when I declined she was not pushy. I, like you said in your video, have not and will not use the platform enough to pay $79 for it. I did not ask if I will be able to access my purchased classes without a membership. Hopefully I will.
Thanks for your informative video.

Thank you for your posting …. I have had trouble canceling my membership with Craftsy and had to go through my credit card company to put a stop payment order in. Very shady business practices. I did not receive a notice from Craftsy that my membership was about to renew … instead I received a notice from my credit card company that I needed to update my card with craftsy … that was my notice. My emails to Craftsy go unanswered. My phone calls go to an automated attendant with no option to leave a voice mail. The Craftsy member profile account does not allow to delete your credit card info … only to update the info – not delete it. There is no place to cancel the membership online. How shady is that? grrr … never again.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
To my surprise there was a $79.99 charge posted to my credit card that was NEVER approved. I sent emails (no response) and made more than one call. This amount was NEVER reversed by Craftsy. I finally had to go to my bank with a dispute. I would not recommend Craftsy to anyone.
Jeanette Pedersen says
I started a Craftsy premium membership in January, and a wrote them within days about how to cancel. They took that request as if I wanted to cancel and cancelled my automatic renewal.
After some time this is what it says under credit card on file:
“Currently your subscription is set to NOT automatically renew. The card you used to purchase your membership will not be used to renew your membership, unless you call Customer Service at (855) 706-3535 and re-enable automatic renewal.”
I was able to access craftsy this year even though my membership was set to expire early January next year.
So my recommendation is to cancel immediately after subscribing. It is possible to cancel via email – I did. Keep the email you send them really short and to the point. One line if possible. “Please cancel my subscription.”
Their customer service sucks. I have emailed them about a problem several times. They clearly don’t read their emails. They just auto reply with something like “delete your cookies” or “use a different browser”. I wrote them a detailed mail about my testing of the problem and how the problem had to be with them. Usually they do reply, it just takes some time – but the reply is useless.
I have enjoyed the classes this past year, but I am not about to subscribe again.

I signed up for a year of Craftsy this morning, found this post (thank you so much btw, very informative!), and immediately went to my account to turn off auto renewal. I just wanted to report that it was easy to do online, just the click of a button and no phone call required, though the number is still there if you want to cancel by phone. Hopefully it’s not all scammy in a year’s time, I guess I’ll see!
Ann says
I sent them an email last year 9 days before my renewal date requesting cancellation. I received confirmation the same day that my membership was off automatic renewal, sorry I was leaving, etc.. Recently I’ve gotten changes to TOS emails from them. I thought I’d cancelled, right? I checked my account and now realize they went ahead and charged me for another year before they cancelled my membership. Sadly, I didn’t catch it on the credit card statement. Definitely a scam and in the future I will avoid them like the plague.

Thank you. I have been bombarded with Craftsy emails and had signed up for a period. Just went in to cancel the auto renew as I don’t find the content as good as some of the regular sites I visit. Canceling the auto renew was easy but I did a screen shot in the event they try to pull a fast one when my subscription actually expires.
AprilM says
For those who have a difficult time finding the way to cancel your Craftsy Membership subscription, click on “membership details”. The link to canceling the auto-renewal is in the fine print under your membership status.
It auto-renews about 10 days before your membership would expire.
