What’s the best way we can use our sewing & quilting talents to help others in need in the wake of Hurricane Harvey?
Is it better to donate handmade items like quilts, blankets, plush animals, clothing or to give cold, hard, cash.
Also – what about selling, raffling, or auctioning off things you’ve sewn and donating the proceeds to a reputable charity?
Keep the people of Houston + Texas in your prayers!
If you’ve got experience or insight in this area – feel free to weigh in!

MY OWN FACEBOOK HARVEY RELIEF EFFORT:
https://goo.gl/uir1pF
Over the past couple years, I’ve been stashing quite a few things I’ve sewn myself – waiting for the right recipient or occasion.
I’d say helping with Hurricane Harvey relief is the time.
Sewing Report is holding a “virtual raffle” – please help me spread the word and share this post!
I’m giving away all of the items pictured here (see captions for details) to anyone who donates at least $20 to any of the following organizations:
Samaritan’s Purse
St. Bernard Project
GlobalGiving
Convoy of Hope
All Hands Volunteers
Americares
American Red Cross
Houston Food Bank
United Way of Greater Houston
Food Bank of Corpus Christi
Houston Humane Society
San Antonio Humane Society
HOW IT WORKS: Comment with a screenshot showing proof of donation under the photo of the item you’d like to win in the raffle. Please only enter to win one of the 5 items! Winners will be chosen at random, and announced on Saturday, September 9th. I will pay for shipping within the U.S. or you can pickup locally in ATL area. Due to international laws, I have to limit this raffle within the country.
