Soak is ‘modern care for fine fibers’ – the Toronto-based company makes a range of products to launder delicate items, press fabric and clothing, and even a few fun personal care items!
The first time I ever laid eyes on Soak founder Jacqueline Sava, she was speaking on a business panel at QuiltCon. I’m fascinated by entrepreneurs, but especially women in business.
Later on, I ended up talking to Sava at the Soak booth and sharing my mission for Sewing Report. Smart, savvy (much like her last name), and innovative.
(Did you know she was on the Canadian version of ‘Shark Tank’ called ‘Dragon’s Den’?)
Since that initial meeting, Sava and her team have been nothing but supportive of this endeavor, and I’ve enjoyed staying in touch!
WHAT IS SOAK?
According to the website, the signature Soak Wash product is a rinse-free formulation perfect for washing your laciest lingerie, your softest sweaters, swimwear, workout gear, hand-made quilts and even baby clothes.
Soak is manufactured in Toronto, and the formula and packaging is environmentally-friendly. The bottles are biodegradable, recyclable, and printed with water-based inks.
While Soak Wash is ideal for hand washing, it can be used with standard and High Efficiency (HE) machines as well.
NEW PINEAPPLE GROVE SCENT
Danielle with Soak reached out and asked if she could send me their new line of fragrances – I emailed back this exact response:
I don’t know if I can handle any new addictions! Seriously, every time I smell the Fig scent I just want the moment to last forever. Is that strange?
The package arrived while I was at work. My husband opened the box because, well, he just does that. I’m pretty certain he spritzed the Soak Flatter just out of curiosity. This is the same guy who opened up and used my Cricut Expression to make vinyl letters, before I even had a chance to see it.
Pineapple Grove features “sparkling top notes of sweet orange that are fused with the soothing floral scent of lilies. Tropical pineapple, orchid, and melon dance through the heart, and evolve into a sophisticated dry down of sheer musk.”
Sound crazy complex?
Yes, it is! The Soak scents are not just your standard smelly products – they are elevated to a level that’s difficult to explain. If you haven’t tried out one of the products yet, do it! In the video I made reviewing the pineapple line, it’s obvious that I might have a dependency problem.
To put this into context, I generally do not go for anything that’s scented. I don’t wear or buy perfume, use candles, body spray, scented lotions – heck, I don’t even own deodorant.
There’s just something about the Soak products that are a cut above the rest. I’m totally serious.
In a future post and video, I will demonstrate using Soak Wash and may (embarrassingly) have to show you a few of my bras. This would be the first time I ever hand washed anything, but if this stuff is truly no-rinse then bring it on!
See you next time!
Jennifer
